Omega-3 fatty acids belong to the polyunsaturated fatty acids. The main Omega 3 fatty acids are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Both can also be found in our supplement: Nutrifoodz Vegan Omega-3®.
It is these two fatty acids that also have the positive effects on health. For example, these fatty acids are good for the heart, eyesight, brain and triglyceride levels.*
Most Omega-3 supplements on the market consist of fish oil because oily fish, such as mackerel, herring or tuna, are good dietary sources of EPA and DHA. But that requires an incredible amount of fish, causing oceans to deplete. Of course, Nutrifoodz obviously doesn't support that. That's why our Omega-3 consists of algae oil, and is therefore 100% vegan.
Moreover, when making algae oil, the production process has minimal Co2 emissions! This is because a by-product of the production process is converted into biogas for electricity production. Win-win in other words!
The algae strain we use, schizochytrium, is a natural algae strain from the North Pacific Ocean and is not genetically modified. The end product is therefore an exceptionally pure algal oil with a concentration of over 50% omega-3 fatty acids.
Vitamin E in our product, on the other hand, ensures that the omega-3 fatty acids do not become oxidised and that you do not have fishy burps.

Yes, omega 3 from algae oil is the sustainable alternative to fish oil and is not inferior in terms of quality. Algae are the natural, plant-based source of Omega 3. Moreover, fish also get their high Omega 3 values from algae.
